The ‘MediCapt’ App by Physicians for Human Rights Enables

The ‘Medicapt’ app by Physicians for Human Rights is a 21st century way to enable doctors out in the field. The Medicapt app took first place in the category of Capture with the Tech Challenge for Atrocity Prevention run by USAID and Humanity United.

"This mobile app will equip doctors and nurses with critical tools for collecting, documenting and preserving court-admissible forensic evidence of mass atrocities including sexual violence and torture," explains the Tech Challenge for Atrocity Prevention. Created alongside technology from Magpi platform and InformaCam, the Medicapt app is a breakthrough technological advancement that could better the lives of countless people.

"I expect MediCapt will enable health professionals to gather the medical data needed so that their legal counterparts can manage the entire evidentiary chain more effectively," said Karen Naimer, director of PHR’s Program on Sexual Violence in Conflict Zones.
