Crowdsourced Fast Food Films

McDonald's McBites Contest Encourages People to Create Mini Films

McDonald's McBites, the fast food giant's version of popcorn chicken, will soon be launched in the United States, and to promote the new snack, McDonald's is looking for 10 awesome mini movie ideas from fans.

McDonald's has launched the contest with the help of Tongal, a video crowdsourcing company, and is asking participants to create a 30-second film that promotes the McDonald's McBites, the packaging of which is designed to fit into a car's cupholder. Thus, the company wants video ideas that highlight the snack's "on-the-go" nature, says Rick Wion, McDonald’s director of social media. In exchange for great ideas, McDonald's is prepared to offer a total of $35,000 in prize money, with the overall winner receiving $15,000 and the top 10 winning ideas getting $250 each.
