MC Hammer to Outdance YouTube?

Former Rapper Launches DanceJam.com

Break out your Hammer pants because M.C. Hammer is set to launch a video dance website called DanceJam.com.

Most of you probably remember MC Hammer so well that you're humming, "U Can't Touch This," right now... But for those of you that have repressed the memories, M.C. Hammer was a pop icon in the early 1990s with numerous rap hits, appearances on MTV and even his own action figure.

Now over a decade later he is scheduled to launch a website that he hopes will will overcome YouTube to become the Internet's hub for sharing and watching dance videos.

MC Hammer's DanceJam.com will feature head-to head competitions where contestants submit videos that will be judged by viewers. They will also provide demonstrations and information about a wide variety of dances. Hammer and his partners have spent several months videotaping people dancing around the country and are all set to launch the site mid January.

DanceJam.com will certainly benefit from the rising popularity of reality shows like, "Dancing with the Stars," or "So You Think You Can Dance," and video games like, "Dance Revolution." But will MC Hammer's once celebrity status be enough to take down video giant YouTube?

"Break it down!"
