Sci-Fi-Inspired Technical Menswear

Marcelo Burlon and Steven Spielberg Worked Together for SS19

Marcelo Burlon and Steven Spielberg joined forces for the Spring/Summer 2019 season with a range of sci-fi-inspired menswear. Burlon drew inspiration directly from Spielberg's iconic 1977 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' for the range. This serves as the core influence that translates across the range through sci-fi details. The pieces are emblazoned with neon hues and hazard warning signs. There are also pieces including The Matrix shades, a glossy PVC bag and details from a Bjork soundtrack.

Burlon also added some countryside pieces into the series, including loose jeans, trucker jackets and fisherman's vests. Drawing directly from Close Encounters of the Third Kind's poster, the range sees a bright pink turtleneck and a spread-collar bowling shirt adorned with a nighttime graphic.
