Upcycled Marine Pollution Jerseys

The New Manchester United Kits are Made with Ocean Waste

After a tough season, it's easy to convince oneself that their team is trash, but the new Manchester United kits turn that into a positive. The team's alternate uniforms, which are produced by Adidas in collaboration with ocean conservation group 'Parley for the Oceans', are made out of waste plastics pulled out of the ocean.

The new Manchester United kits aren't the first project that Adidas and Parley for the Oceans have undertaken together. It is one of the highest profile, though, which is important. No one would argue that a single soccer team's kits would have any material impact on the amount of ocean waste, but such a popular team pointing out the global problem of ocean waste is bound to open the eyes of many fans who might not have considered the issue in the past.
