Experiential 3D Printing Studios

Jonathan Moneta Provides a Preview of the MakeLab Trend Safari

In the lead up to Future Festival 2017, MakeLab has given Trend Hunter a first-hand look at what's in store for this year's Trend Safari at the creative studio.

MakeLab is a 3D printing playground and studio that creates "pop-up interactives for events." The company originally began by bringing its eight 3D printers to a local bar in Toronto and teaching design skills until last call. Since then, the operation has grown to include a fleet of experiential tech, including laser cutters, light tables, fabric printers, food photo booths and more. MakeLab's talented team of designers and technologists then bring these devices to events and brand activations to give guests a hands-on creative experience.

To learn more about MakeLab and get the inside scoop on what the company has in store for this year's Future Festival attendees, Trend Hunter stopped by the experiential studio to talk to Creative Director Jonathan Moneta. As Moneta explains, the team approaches each project by looking at what will create a sense of wonder and how the team can create a genuine creative experience for guests. It is striving to meet these two objectives that helps the team create novel experiences such as edible selfie photo booths, digital graffiti walls and Twitter-activated lights.

For those attending this year's Trend Safari with MakeLab, the company's team of designers and technologists will provide a full tour of the studio's many different gadgets and devices. Future Festival attendees will even have an opportunity to test out the edible selfie booth and have their own face etched onto a delicious French macaron.
