Mac OS X Leopard

To be Released Oct. 26

Apple has announced that its newest operating system, the much anticipated Mac OS X Leopard, is set to launch on October 26.

The delay was due to the Apple's decision to keep the focus on the iPhone for now. Now that the buzz is starting to fade, and so many new competitors have entered the market, the company decided to get back in the spotlight.

Apple had delayed Leopard's release by several months so that engineers could support the iPhone's development and keep its launch on track. Now they're ready for some more attention.

"Some analysts are looking to Leopard's release as one of this year's last catalysts that would push Apple's stock higher," the Street.com reported.

"The company's share price has swelled in 2007 on enthusiasm for the iPhone and Apple's updated lines of iPods and iMac desktop computers. A new operating system, some say, may fuel sales of Macs."

This is a huge sigh of relief for Apple fans waiting until the Leopard system was released to purchase new PCs. Just in time for Christmas, too. The timing is no coincidence; the Consumer Electronics Association reported that new computers have a tendency to top wish lists and even "Leading other electronics like flat-screen television, as well as sentimental wishes like the desires for happiness and world peace."
