Fragile Melancholic Damsel Depictions

Loui Jover Illustrates Despondent Females on Vintage Books

Loui Jover draws melancholic portraits of beautiful women on old books and printed pages.

His reasoning for drawing the illustrations on this surface is rather poetic. He states that the papers' thin form enhances the fragility of the moods that he is trying to depict. "The wind may blow them away at any moment" says Jover, analogizing the fragility of the women and the thin paper they are illustrated on.

The drawings have been made very powerful with a single droplet of ink that runs from the damsels' eyes. The artists was admirably able to depict a very strong level of pain and sadness in the portraits. All of the girls are buried deep in thoughts and emptiness, fore-fronting words that are faded from years past.
