Provocative Child Abuse Photography

Los Intocables by Erik Ravelo Addresses a Harsh Reality

The Los Intocables photo series is utterly provocative. It deals with an incredibly difficult subject matter in a rather creative way. Addressing institutional child abuse, it shows guilty adults forming a cross off of which the innocent children hang off of. Essentially, the images bring to mind Jesus.

Shot by Erik Ravelo, a Cuban-born artist and creative director currently working in Fabrica, the Benetton Group Communication Research Center, the Los Intocables photo series is sub-headed by "The Right to Childhood Should Be Protected." Although the Los Intocables photo series takes an artistic path when addressing this devastatingly common occurrence, it brings to light in a harsher way the people, who are supposedly trusted in general, behind such disgusting acts. It revolves around such institutions as tourism, healthcare, religion, school and military.
