Sleeping Long-Exposure Photos

A Photographer Shot a Timelapse of Beloved Couples' Movements

These long exposure photos of beloved couples sleeping were taken by photographer Paul Schneggenburger. The monochromatic images are soft and delicate, showing the movement of positions each couple made in their sleep overnight.

The photographer wanted to show the loss of control, bareness and love that is shared unconsciously between the couples. He wanted to share something that is often hidden, secret and private to the couples as something exposed and artistic.

As written on his website he asks the question, "What happens to lovers while they are sleeping?... Is it a nocturnal lover's dance, maybe a kind of unaware performed tenderness, or does one turn the back on each other?" The artist begs the question, how might your 'beloved sleep' look? These long exposure photographs show the subconscious relationship between each couple.
