Despite the variety of functions associated with side tables, they must remain small by definition. In order to maximize the capacity of the compact piece of furniture, the Little Ben Coffee Table was conceived.
The Studio Dreimann design was influenced by the form of the traditional English surface, fit to stand adjacent to a wingback chair. However, with the slender tripod pedestal and the modest circular top, there is a limit to the ways in which a user and his possessions can interact with such an object.
The solution was to carve a slot into the plinth of the beechwood piece, large enough to allow magazines, newspapers and novels to be wedged inside. With all reading material kept neatly in the base of the Little Ben Coffee Table, the surface is better suited to accommodate teacups and table lamps.
