Vegan Linoleum Leathers

Lino Leather Presents an Alternative to the Popular Animal-Based Material

Designed by Don Kwaning, Lino Leather is a new realistic vegan alternative to the popular animal-based material. Built to be used for interior and furniture designs, this new material manages to emulate the texture of real leather while being made entirely of linoleum. According to Kwaning, the project aims "to change the industry by introducing new ecological substitutes for existing materials that are toxic or harm animals."

Kwaning's Lino Leather is currently available in two different offerings, with each version presenting a different function in the design space. The first version is quite thick and emulates rumen leather, which is traditionally made from a cow's stomach. This type of Lino Leather is best used to create wall panels, thanks to its acoustic dampening properties. The second version is closer to saddle leather and is more commonly used in commercial applications.
