The base of each lamp in the Lightweight Collection is shaped like a wire basket. This serves two major purposes. The first is reducing the weight of the lamps significantly for production and shipping reasons. The second revolves around storage. The unique basket allows people to place any personal objects within to ground the Lightweight Collection lamps.
Created by British designer Tord Boontje, all of the components of the Lightweight Collection were sourced in Britain. The bamboo stands were grown in Scotland, the wire baskets and joints originated from Yorkshire, the fabric boxes made in Wales while the cable and copper plating came from London. Fully adjustable, the Lightweight Collection is comprised of floor, table and ceiling lights, all of which were displayed during the London Design Festival.
