In a train station in Utah, USA, two sphere LED light sculptures were built and stationed by Artists O'Connell, Borgia-Aberle and Hancock to commemorate the Midvale's copper mines.
Shaped like gigantic round beach balls, the Bit and Mine light sculptures simultaneously change colors and stand on either side of the Bingham Junction Light Rail Station platforms. Made from rainbow LEDs, touch sensors, transparent plastic, acrylic and steel, the Bit and Mine LED sculptures are interactive and use implemented sensors to correlate changing LED colors.On one end, Mine features in-going spiral design where as Bit features an enormous bulging metal 'X.' As the gigantic bulbs switch from pink, blue, yellow and rainbow, the entire train station platform vibrantly lights up. Both the Bit and Mine sculptures elegantly stand on three white legs.
