Shipping Container Lending Libraries

A 'Thingery' Lets People Donate Items for Others to Enjoy

With the rise of the sharing economy, there are more and more P2P lending libraries being established across the world. One of the most unique ones goes by the name of a 'Thingery,' and comes in the form of a shipping container.

This item-lending library is a place for members of a community to drop off unused items so that others may put them to good use. Some of the items that might be found at a Thingery include everything from musical instruments to sporting goods, as well as other items that are highly useful, but only ever used occasionally such as drills, pressure washers or event tables.

As part of The Sharing Project, a pop-up Thingery was set up in the Grandview-Woodland community of Vancouver, British Columbia.
