Layered Glass Art (UPDATE)

Ben Young Releases Images of New Diorama Sculptures

The layered glass art of Ben Young, an artist raised in Waihi Beach, New Zealand, and based in Sydney, Australia, continues to impress. A slew of new work was recently unveiled, just in time to promote the Sculpture Objects Functional Art + Design (SOFA) Fair in Chicago, Illinois, next month. Although some may argue that the layered glass art is very familiar to his previous sculptures, they simply adhere to his signature style.

This time revolving around boats, cabins and even a golden palm tree, the layered glass art takes on a feeling of solitude that many will be able to lose themselves in. Made out of laminated clear float glass and concrete, the pieces look like they are straight out of someone's daydream. Perhaps Young dreams about taking off on his own through blue waters.
