The Laura Serra 'Pencils & Coffee' Series Smears Cups of Java

Children often rub tea bags onto sheets of paper to give it that rustic, antique-y, treasure-map feel and the Laura Serra 'Pencils & Coffee' series does the same, only she's replaced the tea bags with old coffee.

The Berlin-based artist noticed that she always had leftovers of the caffeinated drink after energizing herself in the mornings, so she decided to spice up the plain white paper in her signage art by smearing and texturing her canvases with java.

Ignoring this cutesy gimmick however, the Laura Serra 'Pencils & Coffee' series is still quite remarkable as Serra is a true master of creating unique typographic letter artworks using nothing more than a pencil.

As if you needed more reasons to be jealous of her, Serra is also adept at drawing life-like portraits and can speak five different languages.
