Morimoto Shoots Vibrant Laser Beams From Artwork

Tokyo-based textile artist Mana Morimoto bases her entire career solely on creating out-of-the-ordinary compositions that have to do with the careful arranging and integration of embroidered laser art threads in pictures.

Morimoto’s style is aesthetically quirky and extremely colorful with wide use of colorful threads; some of her designs include Japanese geishas shooting embroidered laser beams out of their eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Some are crazy and psychedelic, like putting laser beam embroidery on CD cases, cinema tickets, even going as far as embroidering Mount Rushmore’s presidents, shooting laser beams out of their eyes.

She uses a mixture of black and white photography to offset the colorful embroideries to create extremely eye-catching compositions.
