Covering more than 3,500 square miles of Australian outback, Lake Eyre is a vast salt lake which shimmers as it stretches across the horizon. Situated in essentially the middle of nowhere, the lake appears to be untouched by mankind, creating a haven amidst an otherwise
uncharacteristically dense and callous desert.
Photographer Murray Fredericks sought to capture the beauty of Lake Eyre with his more recent photography submissions which contribute to his ongoing project 'Salt.' Fredericks and his team hauled 70 pound mirrors through the desert, propping them up with sandbags in the water and capturing the images using large and medium format cameras as the sky turned from harsh blues to soft pinks.
These dreamy photos embody the wonder and enchantment that inspired Fredericks to explore the beauty that can be found in the middle of nowhere.
