Powdered Soy Sauce Containers

Nendo Has Designed a Container for Kona-Shoyu Seasoning

The classic glass salt and pepper shaker design is visually synonymous with the seasoning itself, and Nendo has endeavored to create the same visual association for Kona-Shoyu seasoning, a powdered form of soy sauce offered by an historic Kyoto restaurant.

Nendo's bulbous vessel has two containers: one for loading and pouring the powder and one for storing it. To fill it, one just pours the Kona-Shoyu seasoning into the open mouth, then tilts it upward to filter that powder down into the enclosed section. To add the seasoning to one's food, they upend the container to fill the mouth with the desired amount of seasoning, then tilt that mouth sideways to disperse it. The benefit of the bottle's design is that diners can easily see just how much seasoning they're using before pouring it onto their food.
