The 'Kernit' Font Captures the Whimsy of Jim Henson and His Muppets

Inspired by the work of Jim Henson, the 'Kernit' font was made to celebrate the artist's work and tribute the legions of committed fans. Originally intended for a Jim Henson exhibition at New York's Museum of the Moving Image, the font has instead been released for free online. The Kernit font was created by designers at MCKL and CoOLLINS and was "meant to capture the same imagination, fun and whimsy which we came to love in Henson’s vivid work."

The font distinguishes itself with plenty of curves, with the counters and eyes of letters appearing squished. The overall design was meant to spring off the page with a sense of energy and was meant to evoke a visual style true to Jim Henson.
