Sensor-Driven Smart Hairbrushes

The Kerastase Hair Coach was Revealed at CES 2017

The Kerastase Hair Coach Powered by Withings is being described as the world's first smart hairbrush.

The brush was created along with L'Oreal's Research and Innovation Technology Incubator and provides a unique set of functions that were designed to optimize hair texture. The brush was designed to minimize the breakage and split ends that occur from forceful hair brushing. It has a microphone that identifies patterns in hair's manageability, breakage and dryness. It features "3-axis load cells" that can measure the amount of force that is being applied to the hair when the user is brushing. It also features "an accelerometer and a gyroscope" that analyze brushing patterns and signal if it is too forceful, and has sensors that are able to differentiate between wet and dry hair. The brush is accompanied by an app that uses external factors to quantify hair quality and rate the effectiveness of the user's hair care habits, while also offering personalized tips.

The Kerastase Hair Coach works to provide functions that neither hairbrushes nor other forms of technology have brought to the home.
