Kalen Hollomon Uses Cut-Outs to Create an Alternative Reality

With his latest collage series, Kalen Hollomon proves that you don't need much to create awesome art. The project requires his iPhone, Instagram and a pair of scissors.

Hollomon inserts a cut-out image into each photograph, choosing to leave his fingers in the shot. Surprisingly, the cheeky compositions are spontaneous -- Hollomon simply cuts images out of books and magazines and carries them with him, waiting until he stumbles across a scene where one would work. The results are undoubtedly hilarious, but they also go a bit deeper than surface level. In fact, the entire series plays with our idea of reality and how it is constructed and enacted.

Specifically, Hollomon wishes to raise questions about "learned social rules, identity, the subtext of everyday situations and perception."
