The Joseph Guerra Suna Broom Serves Two Purposes

The Joseph Guerra Suna Broom was designed to prolong the life of this age-old tool. The pivoting head allows the broom to rest on its side, rather than on its bristles, which causes them to bend and damage over time.

The shifting broom head is held in its appropriate position using a series of magnets. The student designer saw the relationship between raking the sand in a Japanese Zen Garden and sweeping a home's floor. The process and interaction in both cases requires the user to interact with his/her tool. Guerra sought to create a broom that allowed this process to be simpler and more efficient.

The flexible design allows this sweeper to reach challenging corners and crevices. The Joseph Guerra Suna Broom also doubles as a dust-pan brush when tilted onto its side -- eliminating the need for two separate tools.
