Dutch Artist Joris Kuipers is Whimsically Colorful

Beautifully abstract, Joris Kuipers has created a suspended sculpture that brings a bit of the outdoors inside. Shaped like a few cumulus clouds, the shapes have been colorfully painted as though to represent the colors a setting sun. Of course, the hues are not necessarily customary of such a stunning sight. Nevertheless, Joris Kuipers' installation does allow the imagination to run rampant.

Currently based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and a resident of the European Ceramic Work Centre (EKCW), Joris Kuipers may have studied traditional painting and fine art techniques at both the Arnhem Academy and the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen, but his installations are anything but traditional. Nevertheless, the techniques he learned are clearly in play.
