Jeptha Creed Distillery has announced the upcoming release of Bruce's Blue Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. This 100 proof expression is made from a mash bill of 75% proprietary heirloom blue corn developed exclusively on the family's own farm, along with 20% malted rye and five percent malted barley.
Jeptha Creed Distillery's Bruce's Blue Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey presents tasting notes of clover honey, rich cocoa, orange marmalade, almond amaretto, and blonde roast coffee on the nose. This is followed by a palate with classic cola, sugary dates, cocoa powder, aged maple wood, and toasted clove. It is finished with crushed white pepper, sugary muddled mint, crème brûlée, and charred pipe tobacco.
Bruce's Blue corn, being an heirloom varietal, contains different oil and protein compositions as well as distinct flavor compounds that cannot be replicated by simply coloring or aging standard bourbon differently.
