3D Sand Sketches

The Jamie Harkins 3DSD Drawings Depict Depth Along Beaches

The 3D drawings of artist Jamie Harkins have been produced alongside his friends Lucia Lupf, David Rendu and Constanza Nightingale. Together the team made sandy shores come to life with sketches that depict depth via sketched boats, steps and castles.

By photographing these scenes from a distance, the sandy portraits appear to pop out of the pictures. Images of people interacting with the installations make the backdrops appear all the more real despite the faux scenes.

Albeit the sense of permanency that these images let on, Harkins takes pleasure in the fact that the waters will soon wash away his work. The project is in this sense short-lived, though it will be difficult to forget.
