The first official trailer for the James Brown biopic called 'Get On Up' has just been released. Chadwick Boseman stars as James Brown and shows how one of the most hardworking influential musicians ever became what he was. 'Get On Up' follows Brown's personal and professional life from the time he was a child in Georgia to him playing in the Apollo theatre.
The film tells the story of James Brown's up-bringing and his rise to fame. His mother, played by Viola Davis, abandoned him at the age of six. His aunt, played by Octavia Spencer, was the only person left to raise young Brown and did so in a brothel.
The all-star cast includes Dan Akroyd, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter and Jill Scott. Look for the film to hit theatres on August 1st, 2014.
