The First Formula E Car to Be Unveiled is the Jaguar I-Type 3

Formula E is switching to a new car design for its next season, and Jaguar is the first team to release its new electric racer the Jaguar I-Type 3. Based on the same Gen2 design all teams must use, the new Jaguar racer strikes a lead over the competition with an impressive design. Like all Gen2 vehicles, the Jaguar I-Type 3 features an enlarged battery pack and is capable of generating 250 kilowatts, or 350 horsepower. The enlarged battery pack is a much-needed upgrade to these electric race cars, as previous Formula E series required multiple vehicles to complete a single race.

Because Formula E requires all participants to use the same model of car, much of the design elements in the race series involves a mantra of "form over function." This is echoed beautifully in the design of the Jaguar I-Type 3 as a solid black undercoat is accompanied by accents of light blue. Jaguar has made one improvement in this new racecar, as the automaker has implemented a "halo" around the cockpit to protect the driver's head from debris.
