Arching Stone Apartments

The Jaffa Flat by Pitsou Kedem Combines Old-World and Modernity

This breathtaking refurbished apartment, called the Jaffa Flat, is located in Old Jaffa in Tel Aviv. Designed by Israeli architects, the building merges history with contemporary architecture and sits above the harbor overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

The most notable element of this 100-square-meter building is its large vaulted stone ceiling, which is several hundreds of years old. These magnificent stone arches were revealed by peeling off the wall coverings. Other walls in the space were also removed to create an open dining and living area, bordered by the arches. The Jaffa Flat also features a stainless steel kitchen and shelves and surfaces made of Corian.

While the building has undergone many changes since its creation, which has damaged its original quality, the Jaffa Flat is still the result of talented architectural design and masterfully combines the old and the new.
