Young British sculptors Jack Munro and Charlotte Austen have recreated a vintage Spitfire using 6,500 egg cartons. The amazing artwork was created for the 'Eggs for Soldiers' charity which provides help and care for war heroes.
The mammoth sculpture which is 12 meters long and 13 meters wide, was recently unveiled at The Imperial War Museum Duxford. The Hackney based sculptors first created a base for the work of art from steel and timber, then covered it wait fabric and began the painstaking process of adding the special anniversary 'Eggs for Soldiers' cartons.
This is a commendable example of artist's collaborating with a charity to create something for the social good of their countries heritage. The stunning artwork is sure to raise awareness of the charity and encourage more visitors to the war museum.
