The 'Is Land' Shocks and Intrigues Passers-By Around the World

Much to the chagrin of sculptors Sarah Cockings and Laurence Symonds, an art project called 'Is Land' went missing and is aimlessly wandering the skies of Europe, delighting onlookers across the continent.

After investing $15,000 and six months of their time, Symonds and Cockings completed construction on a 23-foot polyurethane balloon, filled with helium and draped by plant matter. The result: Is Land, a mesmerizing blimp made perfectly to look like a floating island. Unfortunately, just as the two artists planned to relocate their creation from the 'Secret Garden Party' in Cambridgshire, UK to the Burning Man Festival in Nevada, some wise-guys cut the rope fixing Is Land to the ground.

Current atmospheric data places the contraption somewhere over the Czech Republic, where it's been mistaken for a UFO. Luckily, however, Is Land made such a dramatic impression on its audience that attendees of the Cambridgshire Secret Garden Party raised the money to build a second floating island!
