The Invisible Cities App Remaps Metropolises with Online Data

With the Invisible Cities app, the user is able to navigate a virtual version of someplace like Manhattan with a very different experience to walking or driving the urban environment. You won't see skyscrapers and streets as the physical features of the setting, per se; the cityscape is rather representative of online activity.

Pulling information from Instagram and Twitter, Schema's program registers check-ins and geotagged photos and places them on this 3D map as individual nodes. Aggregating in real-time, the geocoded data builds up and up, making the most social media active locations appear larger than their surroundings. Currently available for the Leap Motion Controller, the Invisible Cities app lets you easily discover the hottest spots around.
