NBCUniversal Ads Will Display QR Codes for Viewers to Scan to Purchase Products

NBCUniversal has created interactive TV ads, where viewers can immediately buy items included in the content they are watching. When the interactive TV ads are displayed, views are able to scan a QR code if they would like to purchase a product. After a QR code has been scanned the viewer will be taken to a website where they can quickly purchase an item. The ads can be seen at the bottom of a TV screen, during predetermined moments of a show.

NBCUniversal has tested the advertisements on a number of different shows and with multiple companies. Notably interactive ads for Lacoste products were seen during the French Open. The network has indicated that the interactive ads have passed the testing phase and will now be included in regular programming.
