Interactive Storytelling Igloos

Aberrant Architecture Teaches Children About Design

London-based Aberrant Architecture has teamed up with five North London schools to facilitate an interactive storytelling igloo learning experience for young people, with the hopes of introducing them to the world of architecture and design
.
The project took place in the local arts center -- Artsdepot. First, participants were asked to explore spatial relationships and the notions of identity and meaning on a piece of paper that later were hand-modeled into prototypes. Each design was then digitally transcribed with a 3D computer modeling software and transferred into the CNC modeled molds.

The little architects used papercrete for the construction of the bricks. 140 students between the ages of eight and 14 participated in the building of the interactive storytelling igloos and developed core technical and creative skills.
