Instagram Instants is a new, standalone app that centers on an intentionally pared-back experience and single-view photos that are designed to disappear within 24 hours. Upon opening the Instants app, users will see the camera feature appear first, prompting them to take and post a photo and live in the moment without needing to scroll, browse or check in with other users first. In this spirit, users can only capture content in real-time and there's no option to upload from a camera roll or files stored on a device. What's more, this app largely rejects editing tools, save for basic tools for overlaying text, offering a return to simpler times where snippets of real life were shown with authenticity and without intense curation.
Instants is coming to select regions, including Spain and Italy.
