Situated on on the western slopes of the Langjökull glacier in Iceland, this ice cave is set to become a massive new tourist attraction. Work on the ambitious project began in May 2014, with the first tours set to take place in June.
The journey to the Ice Cave begins on the southern edge of the glacier, where an eight-wheel Ice Explorer vehicle will take visitors to an altitude of 1,260 meters.The cave itself consists of a pair of three-meter-wide tunnels and a number of chambers, which will take about an hour to explore. The chambers will house educational exhibitions and offer information on the science of glaciers and the dangers of global warming.
One chamber is even set to be converted into a chapel where couples who are ok with a frosty initiation into married life can get hitched.
