Sheepskin Polar Bear Rug

This rug only looks like it's made from a polar bear hide -- it's actually a creation out of animal-friendly sheered sheepskin. This is one really cool rug, which is not surprising as it was commissioned by a Reykjavik, Iceland recording studio. The faux polar bear rug was such a success, a further 10 were made.

The rug spans the full size of a real polar bear at 3ft, and is made from 15 Icelandic sheep skins.

"This play on the techniques of creating luxury goods combined with the universal feeling of love and respect for polar bears offers an interesting look on the sickness and stupidity of the fur industry and what Recht calls, ‘branding the concept of life and animals into a consumers resource,'" WeHeartStuff says.

I love the rug, but do not totally buy into the WeHeartStuff concept behind it.
