House O is Designed for the Needs of a Beijing Artist

House O by the popular firm Penda meets the needs of a well-known artist from Beijing. The team worked closely with the client to understand the person's daily schedule and activities, then built a design that would accommodate this lifestyle.

The house is distinct in its shape and how the material was put together. The facade is quite curved, with timber slats cut out around the outside to allow daylight to shine through. While from the outside the house looks like a refuge for the artist to do work, inside it is fully equipped for living. The space includes a kitchen, bedroom as well as a living room area. Moreover, everything is surprisingly spacious, which again is not apparent from the outside looking in.
