This Minimalistic Counter by Lihi Svirsky Spills Sand onto a Plate

Hour glasses might seem like unnecessary items to own in our modern world, what with so many more accurate ways of keeping time, but his open concept design from Lihi Svirsky is so contemporary and chic it might have you rethinking the need for one altogether.

Instead of featuring standard bulbs with a connection in the middle that allows the sand to spill from one to another, this minimalistic design spills black sand from one container onto a stark white plate. Once the cycle is complete, the sand must then be put back into the dispenser in order to be reused.

Truly a post-modern approach to timekeeping, the hour glass design by Svirsky is rather unrealistic, but makes up for its shortcomings with a striking design that utilizes black and white color schemes to make an impact.
