'Hot Lava' Literalizes Children's 'The Floor is Lava' Game

As kids, almost everyone played some variation of 'Pretend The Floor is Lava,' where the only out of bounds area was the ground and furniture meant safety, and the new 'Hot Lava' video game is making that childhood memory a (digital) reality. The game is a frenetic first person platformer that literally forces the main character to jump around rooms and environments while avoiding the lava-covered floors.

Set for release from the Steam store, Hot Lava's gameplay trailer looks impressively rendered. The level designs have a Pixar-esque look to them, further amping up the nostalgia factor.

Hot Lava's levels begin with the wittiness of the games original concept, as the character runs through the rooms of a family home and a school. It soon evolves into fantastic terrains, though, with the character traversing jungle wilds and industrial hellscapes. While certainly cheeky, Hot Lava is an adult reimagining of the classic childhood game.
