Wood and Metal Horses by Deborah Butterfield

"A horse is a thing of such beauty... None will tire of looking at him as long as he displays himself in his splendor." -Xenophon

Trust me, you get bored of looking at them at when you’re constantly visiting them at 7am, trying to feed them their breakfast. That being said, there is something magical about horses that draws people to them. They are amazing animals, and when with them, I feel I can totally escape from the world.

Is it the fact that they give humans the ability to escape from common existence that drew artist Deborah Butterfield towards them? Her series of sculptures made of wood and cast in bronze, or paper are amazing.
