Modern Glowing Orb Structures

The Hometown Moon Structure Reflects onto a Serene Pool

Hometown Moon is a glowing half-circle structure located in China's Mount Tai. The glowing orb is nestled within the area's rugged topography. It was designed by Syn Architects to radiate its luminescence on a surrounding pool of water. The effect is a dramatic mirrored reflection that completes the bottom half of the orb.

Syn Architects aimed to construct "a moon that never sets." On the inside of Hometown Moon, visitors can observe a moss-covered mountainous sculpture. The building is supported by illuminated pillars that hold up a concrete chapel. The architects explained that their goal was to "return to the birthplace of Confucianism, rebuilding the relationship between dualities such as city and the countryside," as reflected through Hometown Moon.
