Building atop their success with their radiation-sensing iPhone attachment, the researchers at Scosche have pushed their most recent invention into the limelight: The Home Radiation Detector.

So-called "fast photo sensor technology" is what powers the Scosche's HRDTX, allowing it to immediately detect radiation levels above the background threshold without the need for calibration or a prolonged installation. Depending on the threat level, the Home Radiation Detector will either notify you via email, audio cues or a series of light-emitting diodes mounted on the frame. But rest assured, in the event of nuclear fallout, you'll certainly notice the detector's 105 decibel alarm ringing. Although it's not yet available in the States -- forgoing American business in favor of the more lucrative, demanding Japanese population -- this $330 safety kit is certainly worth the fee if you live near a nuclear power plant!
