Holy Carp! Packaging Offers an Alternative for Soy Sauce Dispensers

The Holy Carp! Packaging is a sustainable soy sauce dropper developed by design studio Heliograf in collaboration with studio Vert Design. The container is formed from renewable sugarcane pulp and other plant-based fibres, replacing traditional plastic "soy fish" bottles. Each unit holds up to 12 ml of soy sauce and uses renewable materials that compost within weeks after use. The container is leak-resistant for up to 48 hours, supports refillable use, and avoids PLA, PFAS or other plastics often used in disposable packaging.

The design aims to give sushi restaurants and take-out vendors a practical option that complies with new bans on single-use plastic sauce containers. By shifting to a pulp-based dropper, Heliograf seeks to reduce plastic waste and environmental impact while maintaining the familiar shape and function of the original soy sauce fish.
