NASA's Opportunity Rover Captured This Stunning Panorama

NASA's Mars Opportunity rover captured this spectacular hilltop panorama to celebrate its 11th anniversary on the surface of the Red Planet, and also to remember the victims of the 9/11 attack in New York. The rover holds the record for the longest distance traveled on another planet, and has made several groundbreaking discoveries along the way.

In order to capture the image, the rover ascended to Cape Tribulation, at an altitude of 135 meters. This represents one of the highest altitudes it has visited, and allowed it to capture a large section of interior of the Endeavour Crater as well as the rim of another crater in a single panorama.

What makes this hilltop panorama doubly impressive is the fact that it was captured by a rover whose original mission was scheduled to last just 90 days.
