Computer Love Story Parodies

This 'Her' Parody Shows a Love Affair with Clippy the Paperclip

This hilarious 'Her' parody reimagines what the Spike Jonze film might have looked like in 1995. In Jonze’s 2013 movie, the protagonist falls in love with his operating system with artificial intelligence and develops a serious relationship with a Siri-like being. The premise is equal parts intriguing and strange, but it sure doesn’t hurt that the AI has the sultry voice of Scarlett Johansson.

In this spoof from Late Night Basement, the advanced AI is replaced by "Clippy," the obnoxious paperclip from Microsoft. Clippy isn’t great at the romance, but he sure can whip up what would have been a great looking graph in 1995.

Although the original film may reflect a reality that’s in store for the near future, this 'Her' parody shows just how ridiculous it would have seemed about 20 years ago.
