Helmut Newton's 'SUMO' is Downsized & Re-Released

The original ‘SUMO’ book featured over 350 photographs covering every aspect of photographer Helmut Newton’s career. His fashion images influenced the photographers that came after him. His celebrity portraits were much coveted. But, he is best known for his powerful, erotic nudes.

Copies of the original edition, a huge volume with an initial print run of 10,000 signed and numbered copies, often sell for $15,000 or more. Thankfully, the new edition is smaller, and considerably less expensive, selling on Amazon for under $100.

For those with a bigger budget, the Photography Museum in Berlin is hosting an exhibition that displays how the famous book ‘SUMO’ was created. The exhibition runs through January 31, 2010.
