Resident Airport Writers

London's Heathrow Airport Enlists Alain de Botton for New Book

London's Heathrow Airport has appointed world-respected author Alain de Botton as the first ever airport writer-in-residence. The philosopher will sit in Terminal 5 capturing the story of the airport with its staff and passengers becoming the book's contents.

It's a fairly brave move by Heathrow, as Alain de Botton has been handed full creative control. The ad-funded book will be available in all good bookshops (including other airports) by late September.

Implications - Alain de Botton will get to live out my childhood fantasy of spending a significant amount of time in airport. This innovative project is the result of an airport that wants to stand out from the rest.
