The HealthPoint Services 'WaterFirst' Project Melds Various Models

The HealthPoint Services 'WaterFirst' model attempts to be a holistic attempt at offering health care services to middle-class households in India's rural areas. The way it works is that those who go to HeathPoint to access potable water also have the opportunity to buy other health-oriented products such as condoms, sanitary pads and vitamin supplements. The idea is to combine the walk to and from the site of the water unit -- whether it's daily or a few times a week -- with other essential primary care services.

Earlier this year, the HealthPoint Services 'WaterFirst' model was chosen to be a finalist in Ashoka Changemakers' Transforming Health Systems: Gamechanging Business Models competition.
